When Bucknellians Combine (Musical) Forces: Collaborative Student Cello/Piano Recital
What better way to spend a Saturday afternoon (and ring in the first day of March) than listening to some of the best musical talent Bucknell has to offer? This Saturday, March 1st at 3:00 p.m., make your way over to the Rooke Recital Hall in the Sigfried Weis Music Building to see a collaborative concert by musicians and friends Nikki Allison ’15 and Sam Robinson ’15. “I'm so excited to be giving a cello and piano recital with my good friend Nikki Allison. We've been working for months preparing for this event,” Robinson said.
Allison will show off her cello skills while Robinson will demonstrate his talents on the piano and the harpsichord, a Baroque era keyboard instrument. The duo will perform works by Eccles, Ligeti, Tchaikovsky, Schubert, and Cassadó, these works spanning from the early 1700s to the mid 1900s.
Allison and Robinson will each perform solo works both for cello and piano. On one piece, Robinson will accompany Nikki on the harpsichord.
“After countless hours of practice, Nikki and I can’t wait to present our work for a live audience,” Robinson said.
So far, the duo has used social media to spread the word. Their Facebook event “Nikki and Sam’s Cello/Piano Recital” features pictures of Allison and Robinson practicing for Saturday's concert in addition to concert updates.
Take a break from midterms this coming Saturday and enjoy some classical music by two of Bucknell’s most dedicated musicians. You won’t regret it!
