Campus Vinyl Presents: Your Go-To Library Playlist

We’ve all dealt with a case of the homework blues. Ya know, when you don’t feel like doing anything, but are forcing every fiber in your body to turn each page; write each word; and solve each equation. Sometimes it seems like there’s no end in sight, but wait! There’s a solution: music. So grab your ear buds, set up camp in the East Reading Room, and let these tunes motivate you to power through those problem sets. “Kanye” by The Chainsmokers Siren: Upbeat, energizing, and a great way to start off a loooong night in the library. Even though homework isn’t as epic as Kanye, there’s no reason why you can’t treat it that way.

“Sintra” by Flume: A chill, mind-numbing track that will ease you into focus mode.

“Always Like This” by Bombay Bicycle Club: There’s always a need for a happy-go-lucky song when you’re trudging through in-depth assignments.

“Tessellate” by alt-J: This smooth, slow song with a steady beat keeps you in-tune while you write, read or solve.

“Young Folks” by Peter Bjorn and John: A better energy boost than coffee.

“Emkay” by Bonobo: This song brings you back to a relaxed, focused place, and is just the right amount of background noise you need to be productive.

“Raven’s Song” by Aaron Embry: The soft piano notes in this beautiful song will put you in a pensive mindset, perfect for writing that big essay you’ve been putting off until now.

“Lake Michigan” by Rogue Wave: An epic song that makes you feel like you can tackle anything…especially all that homework listed in your assignment book.

“Concrete Wall” by Zee Avi: The singer’s soothing voice will work wonders when you want to throw your textbooks through a concrete me.

“Cocoa Butter Kisses” by Chance the Rapper: A chill rap song to calm your nerves when you submit that overdue assignment to Turn It In.

“Such Great Heights” by The Postal Service: This stimulating song will perk you up, just in time before you call it quits.

“King of Spain” by The Tallest Man On Earth: A positive, happy song that’s necessary when what you’re studying suddenly looks like a foreign language.

“Dreamer” by Isbells: Although you may be day-dreaming of anything but homework, this airy, slow track will keep you on task for a little while longer.

“Otherside” by Red Hot Chili Peppers: This song’s steady drum beat helps you make that final push through the last few problems, or final sentences of a paragraph.

  1. “Alive” by Empire of the Sun: Congrats! You SURVIVED. Leave the Lib on a high note after listening to this high-energy track.

Check out all or some of these tracks while you’re doing work, and you’re bound to experience a mood boost, increased focus, and a (slightly) more enjoyable homework session. If you're a fan, feel free to follow the playlist on Spotify. But if you prefer the sound of silence, well, there’s certainly value in that, too.
