CV September Playlist
Welcome back to campus, Bucknellians! It’s beginning to feel a lot like fall - classes are in full swing, the days are getting shorter, and the temperatures are finally cooling off after a hot start to the semester. As usual, with a new semester comes new music! If your playlists are in need of an update, check out some picks from the CV staff in our September Playlist below: Mike is jamming out to “Chief Don’t Run” by Jidenna:
This is yet another underrated song that Jidenna has released, bringing a fresh style to hip hop.
Ryan has “Fever” by the Black Keys on repeat:
Not only is it a catchy song but the bass riff and addition of keyboards makes it a perfect song to drive, workout and just vibe to.
Lukas is holding onto summer with “Come Down” by Anderson Paak:
He's an upcoming artist with a groovy style that can bring summer vibes to the end of the season.
Staci is obsessed with “Get Low” by James Vincent McMorrow:
Get Low strays from McMorrow's classic folk sound in favor of a more R&B vibe, but the result is equally, if not more, appealing.
Jason is reminiscing about a semester abroad “Oh I’m a Wrecker” by A Sunny Day in Glasgow:
Being back at Bucknell after a semester abroad is a tough transition. You have to deal with the loss of excitement of being somewhere new. One of the novel things I miss from my time in Scotland is the weather. It rained horizontally (blame the wind I think) every day for 5 months. With that spirit in mind, here's a song by a band called A Sunny Day in Glasgow.
Melissa is listening to “Catch and Release (Deepend Remix)” by Matt Simons:
“Catch and Release” is my monthly pick because the beginning of the song is very calming, but more energy is introduced as the song progresses. The varying dynamics of this remix make it a good listen for any kind of mood you're in.
Joe is addicted to “Left Alone” by Blink-182:
This song is off their new album California, which came out in July, but it still gets stuck in my head sometimes. It's awesome to see that these guys are still making music since it's been five years since their last studio album.
Tyler is loving “Jacket Weather” by Sam Gellaitry:
Combining the sounds of exotic instruments with his crafty brand of chill trap, Sam Gellaitry has broached new territory while maintaining his signature style. This song, off the new album Escapism II, should be sending your chill-tunes radar off the charts.
Laur is feeling “Friends (feat. Bon Iver)” by Francis and the Lights:
The new Bon Iver album drops at the end of the month, and I have honestly never been more ready for anything. In the meantime this track, featuring Vernon's typical lush vocals with an R&B twist, is tiding me over. It also introduced me to Francis and the Lights, a killer R&B/pop group whose songs are a great addition to any playlist! What are you listening to this month? Let us know in the comments below!
