Dope Walk - Fashion Walk

The music video for A$AP Ferg’s recent track “Dope Walk” provides a 4-minute long peek into the star-studded, glamorous mayhem that is New York Fashion Week. As the song title suggests, Ferg has created a dance – “the dope walk” – which is demonstrated by the likes of Cara Delevigne, Jeremy Scott, the Haim sisters and more in this entirely iPhone shot video.  The video opens with Ferg mean muggin’ while waiting for Cara to pick up his FaceTime call. Grainy quality and all, Ferg and Cara have a brief back-and-forth that ends in laughter and the dreaded “Poor Connection” FaceTime screenshot. Suddenly, the hollow beat drops in and we see, with Cara’s face still peeking in from the bottom of the iScreen, a runway lined with spotlights in a pitch-black room. Next up are cameos from Kris Kardashian, Kanye West, Rihanna, and A$AP Rocky, all greeting Ferg with daps and kisses as they arrive at the show. As the song intensifies, we hear Ferg’s voice boldly ringing, “Do the dope walk, do the dope walk…my walk meaner than Cara Delevigne’s.” As this chorus continues, we see people backstage doing their version of the dope walk interspersed with time lapsed clips of Yeezus x Adidas’ 2015 fashion show. The video captures Ferg’s indulgent New York Fashion Week experience from every angle and perspective – from front row at Jason Wu to backstage with the models at Jeremy Scott, and in-and-out of the grimy NYC subway between shows. Trust me, between the hype beat and the entrancing glance into the New York fashion scene, this video leaves us all thinking, damn, I wish I was there.
