Disney’s Newest, Live Musical Theatre Production

After recently winning the Golden Globe for Best Animated Film for the year, Frozen, Disney’s newest fan phenomenon had been confirmed by Disney CEO Robert Iger to eventually debut as a live theatre production. Frozen follows in the footsteps of many other Disney movies transformed into theatrical productions such as The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, and even Mary Poppins.

Being the fourth highest-grossing animated film of all-time, following only The Lion King, Finding Nemo, and Up, it really shouldn’t be a wonder that Disney is deciding to make a worthwhile entertainment investment in taking its newest and extremely successful endeavor to the stage. Powerhouse musical couple Robert Lopez (who also composed the score and was the co-creator of hit theatre productions The Book of Mormon and Avenue Q) and Kristen Anderson-Lopez composed the vocal score for the movie. Also, the movie already sports a superb vocal cast including Broadway singers Idina Menzel (Wicked), Jonathan Groff (Spring Awakening), Josh Gad (The Book of Mormon), Santino Fontana (Cinderella), and Broadway alum Kristen Bell.

One of the most popular songs from the movie is “Let It Go”, sung by Broadway star, Idina Menzel, who played the original female lead, Elphaba, in the hit Broadway musical, Wicked. The song is so breathtaking and powerful that its been covered by artists all over the world in their native languages. Here are the links to the original sung by Idina Menzel and a multilingual version (25 languages!). Both are absolutely gorgeous, they’re both definitely worth listening to.
