Group "Judo Chop" Kicks Off House Party Weekend

No, a scary ninja group isn't coming to campus.  Quite the contrary, actually.  Judo Chop, an esteemed 80's pop/rock cover band, will perform at the Chi Phi fraternity house on Friday, March 22 at 6:00 p.m. to start off the Friday evening House Party festivities on the right note!

But these guys aren't your typical cover band. Judo Chop, comprised of Ben (guitar, keyboard, vocals), Matt (guitar, vocals) and Mike (drums, vocals), takes the best songs from the 80's and presents them in a modern rock style.  We're talking everything from Madonna to Bon Jovi, people!  As stated on their website, Judo Chop performs the most classic 80's hits through "blistering guitar solos, huge drums, rumbling bass, and intricate 4-part harmony." Now who doesn't love all of that?  Sounds pretty awesome to me!

With over five decades of experience in the music business, Judo Chop has perfected the art of 80's cover music. Chi Phi Fraternity member Eric Brod '13 describes what sets Judo Chop apart from other cover bands. "I think what sets them apart is how well they play to the crowd and how they bring people up on stage to sing with them. I think the crowd really feeds off their energy."

So pull on your leg warmers, squeeze into your skinny jeans, and style your hair into a mullet or some overly-hairsprayed high ponytail and get ready to ROCK 80's-style with Judo Chop at Chi Phi on Friday, March 22 at 6:00 p.m. Don't miss out on this fun throwback experience that'll have you "Livin' On a Prayer"!

Don't Stop the Beat,
Jen Lassen
