Half the Deck Serenades Uptown

If you were lucky enough to make it to Uptown on Friday night, I'm sure the harmonies of Lindsay Coffee' 13and Tyler Campbell  '12 from Half the Deck are still beautifully resonating in your head. From what I could tell the audience had fallen in love after the first verse of the first song was played, and remained in a trance for the rest of of the show. The instrumentals were flawless, as band members Mark Horvath '13, Dylan Cowell '15, and Matthew Cherewka '13, jammed out on acoustic guitar, banjo, violin, and melodica. They provided a great backdrop for the perfect blend of vocals between Lindsay and Tyler.

Half the deck is quite the dynamic group, each member clearly passionate about every note they strum or sing to bands including Mumford and Sons, The Avett Brothers, Imagine Dragon, and Shane Nicholson. Both individually and collectively, their talent and presence engulfed the room, leaving people in awe of the students playing in front of them. People sat on the floor in clusters under the soft neon lights, swaying and singing along when they knew the words.

I left impressed with a fresh sound, different from the usual Bucknell repertoire, and I was singing "Little Talks" by Of Monsters and Men for the rest of the night. If you haven't already, you should definitely make it to one of their shows.  You won't regret it.

If you weren't able to catch the show, here is a brief taste of what you missed.
