Hip-Hop’s Royal Couple to Tour This Summer: the Mr. and Mrs. Carter Tour
The power-couple to end all power-couples just took their game to the next level. Beyoncé and Jay Z will reportedly be hitting the road this summer to go on tour. While the tour has not been officially announced, the Los Angeles Times on Thursday reported that the tour is expected to be named the “Mr. and Mrs. Carter Tour” and will kick off on June 13th in Atlanta. The two recently wrapped up solo tours earlier this year and made surprise appearances at Coachella last weekend. It seems as though hip-hop’s royal couple has been unstoppable lately. Beyoncé unexpectedly released her self-titled 5th studio album this past December and fans still can’t get over it. Her Mrs. Carter World Tour, which included 132 tours in 4 continents, wrapped up in March. She has been nominated for 7 Billboard Music Awards this year, including Top R&B Artist and Top R&B Album. Jay-Z ended his Magna Carter World Tour in January. He was nominated for 8 Grammys this year, winning 2 for Best Music Video (“Suit & Tie”) and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration (“Holy Grail”), and is nominated for 5 Billboard Music Awards, including Top Rap Artist and Top Rap Album. The couple’s hit song “Drunk in Love” has been stuck in everyone’s’ heads all winter. And they did all of this with a baby at home.
Jay and Bey define the power couple; they basically rule the world. They’re both at the top of the game in their respective genres and have been for a long time. They are widely respected, as a couple and as artists themselves, by members of the music industry for being both talented and innovative. I mean honestly, who doesn’t love these two? She’s basically the queen of the world (the nickname Queen Bey could not be more accurate). He’s had influence on what feels like every hit rap song of the past 20 years. And while their fame and fortune make them seemingly untouchable, their grounded, down-to-earth marriage makes us love them that much more
A combined tour provides a little something for everyone. For the girls, they get to see their reigning queen. For the guys, they get to see Beyoncé without having to admit that they love her just as much as the girls (thanks for the cover-up Jay). Ok, Jay Z will be unreal too. It’s really just the tour to end all tours.
While they haven’t released details about the tour, many believe it will be a 20-date tour that will kick off towards the end of June. You can expect even more of the glitz and glam from Queen Bey (flashback to the superbowl). And Hove is known to give unreal performances. Combine the two and you’ve got a show that will be nothing short of life-changing. Hopefully they’ll throw it back to where it all began and play jams like “Bonnie and Clyde” and “Crazy in Love”. If the couple’s Grammy performance was a preview of what is to come, then this tour is sure to be epic. Keep an eye out for more details on dates and arenas and hopefully I see you all there.
Here’s a preview of the magic, try not to drool:
