HOT TRACK OF THE WEEK: RL GRIME’S 2015 HALLOWEEN MIX

In a time and place where playlists dominate the music scene, it’s refreshing to be able to just *boop* turn on a single mix and let it play out over the course of 45-60 minutes. It is rare, however, to find a set that satisfies, and continues to satisfy, throughout that time frame. One exception is Mr. RL Grime, who continues to thrill with his chilling, trapping, annual Halloween Mix. 2015 Marks the 4th , and perhaps best, installment of this series. I’ve been listening to it constantly – while driving, studying, and just makin’ my way across campus. Rather than enlisting Goosebumps author, RL Stein, to open up the track as we’ve grown accustomed to in 2013 and 2014, this year’s mix opens up with comedian Hannibal Buress going off. Burress explains, over voicemail, that he needs to be on the Halloween Mix, that he’s got some “sick beats” and he’s trying to be Chicago’s Avicii. The mix continues to open slow, mixing intense, breathy beats with rhymes by the likes of A$AP Rocky, Future, and Drake. If you thought RL Stein wasn’t in on this one, though, don’t worry, he is. His spooky voice makes a brief cameo at the end. Check it out on SoundCloud below: https://soundcloud.com/rlgrime/halloween-mix-2015
