The iTunes Festival— A Free Concert Lover’s Dream

One of the best kept secrets in music is the festival fantasy that is the iTunes Music Festival! Once a year, iTunes brings together a tantalizing line up, and this year Apple’s virtual music store definitely did not disappoint.  The festival featured artists across the genre spectrum such as Pharrell Williams, deadmau5, Lenny Kravitz, SBTRKT, Maroon 5, and Mary J. Blige. Each performer graced the stage of the Roundhouse venue in London for 30 days straight. That’s a lot of live music. What makes the iTunes fest arguably better than any other that I have ever attended you ask? Each show is filmed in high-definition and then posted in the iTunes store for a limited time, and here’s the secret sauce…they’re all free! itunesfest2

I couldn't be more excited to sit in bed on that special night in and have a private showing of my favorite artists on repeat with just a swipe of my finger. Some of my favorite shows to date include SBTRKT, who somehow always manage to recreate old songs in just the right way; Jessie J also was great. While her set had a rather rough start, once she warmed up the performance went well because she took the time to make her act extremely heartfelt and personal. Finally, shout out to the sad souls (mine included) that were never quick enough to find tickets to one of Sam Smith’s vocal showcases this summer: you won’t be disappointed. If this kind of festival doesn’t wet your eardrums then I will be taking it personally.

Thanks to Apple for the photos.
