January Playlist

Campus Vinyl has been enjoying this much needed time off from academics for these winter months, but we haven't taken our finger off the pulse of music. Enjoy our January playlist of some of our favorites both old and new! Laura Y. loves "Skyfall (RL Grime & Salva Remix)" by Travi$ Scott (Ft. Yung Thug)

Very smooth trap mix seamlessly tied together by the fabulous RL Grime and Salva. Listen and fall in love.

Laur H. can’t get enough of "Spirit Cold" by Tall Heights

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yOf7LTGN6AY

I've recently fallen in love with the lead single off Tall Heights's most recent EP. I'm a huge fan of the breathtaking harmonies and acoustic instrumentation, and I can't wait to hear more from this band in 2016!

Nick B. is getting into "Smooth Sailin'" by Leon Bridges

I was bopping around the internet last night while writing my latest article and stumbled upon this rising star. As a former jazz artist (back in my high school glory days), I can always appreciate a jazzy, soulful tune. I expect big things from this guy in 2016 so get acquainted with him now!

Morgan is digging "Kept" by Stolen Jars

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4aD7BtHvNrQ

This track has everything I love in a song. The combination of intricate and creative lyrics, a folksy melody, and a technical and mathematical beat make for a gloriously interesting song. All with a nice New Year’s reminder: remain close to the person you love and remember that “living takes time.”

Staci is listening to "Trouble - Stripped" by Halsey [embedyt] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2aTxmwRiJQ[/embedyt]

I love this track from the typically more electro-pop singer-songwriter.  It shows off Halsey's impressive vocals without the exciting, but sometimes distracting, sound of an electronic back-track.

Joe E. is reminiscing with "Montero (Home Tonight)" by Andromulus

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pjvr4Jh75aM

One of my most vivid memories of winter was going to swim practice every day and listening to the 80’s pop music my coach would play over the speakers. This recent Andromulus release acts as a tribute to the era, giving a unique perspective on some of the greatest hits. Listening to this song always takes me back to that simpler time.

Tyler D. is getting hyped with "Badman" by Autoerotique and Max Styler

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKzIBrci5B4

Perfect for getting pumped up in every situation, from working out to going out with your friends, "Badman" (Torro Torro Remix) by Autoerotique & Max Styler is a banger. Worthy of inclusion in even the best party playlists!

Ryan H. loves "Physical Education" by Animals as Leaders

This band is just amazing. Tosin Abasi is the greatest eight string guitar player alive today, and even without a vocalist you’ll find yourself singing along with this song in no time.
