Not only does freshman Shira Tarlo bring her personal flair to the publication through her writing and music tastes, but she also brings her social media expertise. This fall, she will be taking over for our VP of Marketing while our current VP travels abroad. Campus Vinyl BucknellU is super lucky to have this girl join our team. Check out her articles here and stay tuned on Facebook for her witty posts. Why did you join Campus Vinyl?

I joined Campus Vinyl because I have a passion for writing and for music. Since joining CV, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting other music-lovers and learn more about music genres that I’m not so familiar with, like protest music.

What have been some of your major musical influences?

Coldplay, Phoenix, Fleet Foxes, Jack Johnson, and Sublime.

We know you’re super involved with social media. Tell us a little about what sparked your interest and what you do.

After moving from Israel to the U.S. at age eight, my love affair with social media began as it helped me so easily stay connected to my family and friends overseas. Now, I use almost all social media platforms: Instagram, Twitter, Yik Yak, etc. Instagram is definitely my favorite, however, as I love seeing photos of what my friends are doing and sharing my own.

What else are you involved in on campus?

I write for Her Campus Bucknell and I work for the student social media team.

What are you listening to right now?

To Pimp a Butterfly by Kendrick Lamar. I’ve finally found the time to check it out; it’s incredible!

There are a lot of exciting events happening in music this spring on campus. Which are you most excited about and why?

I am most excited about the Bison Sound Music and Arts Festival! This event will undoubtedly boast incredible and unique art and music from headliners like The Rooks to student-led bands. Most importantly, I can’t wait to celebrate spring with other Bucknellians.
