Classic rock fans, the wait is over. On Wednesday, April 3rd, the Rolling Stones unveiled their highly anticipated concert dates for the North American portion of their "50 and Counting" tour. The tour will feature former guitarist Mick Taylor, who was part of the band from 1969-74, as a special guest. The band used a 45-second video clip, in which the members all meet up via video chat to plot out the tour, as a tool for the announcement.

The tour will travel to Los Angeles, Oakland, San Jose, Las Vegas, Anaheim, Toronto, Chicago, Boston and Philadelphia. According to Billboard, the band has given its promoter 18 dates that they are willing to perform on, so it is likely that more concerts will be added. All dates have been announced except for the first show in Los Angeles (It depends on when the Staples Center will be occupied for the NHL playoff game). Tickets for select shows went on sale at 10AM on Monday, April 8th.

The Stones are having quite a successful year. They kicked off the celebration of their half-a-century anniversary with the release of the compilation GRRR! in November, the documentary film Crossfire Hurricane, and the photographic book The Rolling Stones: 50. They also sold out 3 concerts in the New York City area, their first live shows in many years.

50 & Counting has been pretty amazing so far,” said Jagger. “We did a few shows in London and New York last year…and had such a good time that we thought…let’s do some more.  It’s a good show.  Lots of the classic stuff everyone wants to hear…with a few little gems tucked in here and there.  The stage is shaped like lips and goes off into the venue so I get to run around in the crowd.  It’s great fun to be able to get that close to the audience.”

“From day one at rehearsals it sounded so fresh.  You could tell that everybody was dying to get their teeth into it.  It was like…open the gates…let us out!” said Richards. “Cause man, it is the life and blood of us to play in front of people.” (Rollingstones.com).
