Third Eye Blind and Lupe Fiasco Take the Stage: 2013 Spring Concert Preview
This coming Friday, get ready to be visited by two landmark artists in each of their own respective realms. If you have somehow not heard already, alternative rock band Third Eye Blind and rap artist Lupe Fiasco will be performing for Bucknell’s 2013 Spring Concert. Personally, I must say that this is quite an incredible duo. Any true-spirited 90s kid is familiar with the alternative rock wave that dominated the end of the 20th century. These are the artists we grew up listening to. Third Eye Blindranks up there as one of the greatest in their genre, and their performances still amaze. I was fortunate enough to see Third Eye Blind this past summer at a street festival in Connecticut, and it was one of the greatest performancesI had ever been lucky enough to see. The unstoppable onslaught of relentless 90's power chords laced with unforgettable riffs, all topped off with a barrage of nostalgia had me shamelessly screaming along the words to each and every song. One piece of advice for this portion of the concert: if you do not know much of Third Eye Blind’s music, you are at the right place! Check out this link to his website, as well as this carefully crafted crash-course playlist (at the very least, memorize the choruses for a guaranteed incredible time).
As if just having Third Eye Blind come to perform wasn’t enough, hip-hop revolutionary, Lupe Fiasco, will also be joining us on Friday night. Although muchnewer to the scene, Lupe has completely dominated the modern hip-hop world. Anyone familiar with his music is aware of his politically charged lyrics accompanied by the catchiest samples. The best way to describe his sound, in respect to the concert scene, is to cheesily compare it to that of an onion: there are layers. On the surface, there will be nothing stopping you from bouncing uncontrollably, hands in the air.If that ever happens to get old, take a deeper look into the music that has you swaying- the lyrics will be plenty of cognitive fuel to keep your mind at anything but peace. Lupe Fiascos’ music, simply put, is dirty and freaking huge. Once again, if you are not intimately familiar with this artist and plan on attending this concert, you’ll want to get a good feel for his style as soon as possible! Follow this link to his website and let this exclusive Campus Vinyl BucknellU crash-course playlist roll.
