Valentine’s Day at Bucknell
As the infamous February 14th – Valentine’s Day, that is – approaches, many of us will find ourselves looking for anything to occupy our free time, while a lucky bunch will celebrate what they’ve found with someone special. But something all of us can agree on is that music is always a good time, and it can most definitely be a simple but sweet way to show someone how much you care. For this reason, we’re so excited to announce that 2 of our very own a capella groups, the wonderfully talented Beyond Unison and ultra dapper Bison Chips, will be performing Valentine’s Day grams this week. The charming Bison Chips will be holding silent auctions in which people can put money down for which sorority they want the Chips to sing to during chapter meetings. True to their classic repertoire, the Chips’ set will most likely consist of “Lady in Red,” “Bring it on Home to Me,” “Love the One You’re With” and possibly “Up the Ladder to the Roof.”
As for Beyond Unison, the coed a capella group on campus known for their killer vocals and unique arrangement, they will be selling Valentine’s Day grams for just $5. All you need to do is give them the name of the person who you want them to sing for and where that person may be around the time that you choose. You can choose from four songs, “Just the Way You Are” by Bruno Mars, “Wanted,” by Hunter Hayes, “What Makes You Beautiful” by One Direction, and “I Wanna Hold Your Hand” by The Beatles. They even throw in a heart-shaped lollipop with a personal message from you to your person of choice. This is the perfect way to surprise your boy or girlfriend, best friend, or really anyone, and show them your affection. Who wouldn’t want to be serenaded with some One Direction while going to class?
Another easy Valentine’s Day treat you can make yourself is a CD mix or playlist for a friend or lover. Fill it with songs that you or he/she loves, ones that would make anyone feel special – this category could really include anything, from Miley’s “Adore You” to “Eyes” by Kaskade. Write a nice note on the face of the CD and wrap it up with a ribbon, and viola! A simple way to show someone you care.
Valentine’s Day doesn’t just have to be for couples – it is a day to celebrate our awesome relationships with friends and family, too! So treat it as such, and surprise someone with the ultimate gift of all, song.
