Weekly Event Breakdown: Week of April 6th

We’re entering that final stretch of the semester: the end is swiftly nearing!  And there’s a ton of stuff going on in the music department to make that time go by even faster. Starting off on Sunday, April 6th at 2:00pm in the Rooke Recital Hall in the Weis Music Building will be Anissa Corser’s Senior Voice Recital.   Anissa will be singing pieces by Tchaikovsky, Debussy, Strauss, and Bernstein, and attendees can expect a reception following the recital.

On Tuesday, April 8th at 7:30pm in the Weis Center will be the Bucknell Jazz Band Concert.  The concert is free and open to the public, and is a continuation of Bucknell’s ongoing Jazz series.  The concert will be directed by Bucknell music professor (and Campus Vinyl BucknellU adviser) Barry Long, and will also feature guest composer and conductor Fred Sturm and guest soloist trumpeter Clay Jenkins.  This will be Jenkins’ second visit to Bucknell’s campus this semester.  "We'll be performing an entire concert's worth of [Sturm’s] music including a world premiere written for our students,” says Long.

On Friday, April 11th at 7:30pm will be Darius Rucker at the Spring Concert.  Read more about the event here.

Also on Friday at 7:30pm, however, will be Zakir Hussain and Masters of Percussion.  The event will be held in the Weis Center.  Zakir, reigning from India, is one of the greatest musicians in the field of percussion.  He is known worldly for his both brilliant and exciting concerts.  It is truly an honor to be hosting him here at the Weis Center at Bucknell!  Check him out in the video below.

Finally, on Saturday, April 12th is a Bucknell Chorale Concert at 2:30pm in the Weis Center, and Kim Davis’s Senior Violin Recital in the Rooke Recital Hall in the Music Building starting at 6:00pm.

In addition, Campus Vinyl will be hosting our first registered event at UpTown from 10:00pm-12:00am featuring DJ John Chestnut '14 and hip-hop/pop duo Heyyo. Free food and 3 free drinks for those of age...you won't want to miss it. Make sure to sign up for the guest list in the LC Mall this week.

There’s a lot of stuff going on this week in the music department at Bucknell, so make sure you keep your schedules open and show your classmates some love!
