Weekly Event Breakdown: Week of March 30th
Spring has finally arrived at Bucknell and campus is filled with exciting new events. Kick off April with these great musical opportunities! On Tuesday, April 1st at 3:30 PM, Bucknell music professor Annie Randall will present a presentation entitled "Beethoven's Fifth Symphony: Exploring its many interpretations and permutations from the late-20th century to the present". As a trained musicologist, Randall writes books discussing topics related to music culture. The event is part of Tea & Talk, a series presented by The Bucknell Institute for Lifelong Learning, and will be held at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village in Lewisburg.
Newspeak will be performing at Rooke Recital Hall in Weis Music Building on April 2nd at 7:30 PM. Self-defined as indie-classical, the 10 person ensemble is being featured as part of The Gallery Series at Bucknell. “In the indifferent brutality” represents experimental and world music and offers a unique experience for the Bucknell community.
Chamber music group Sybarite5 will perform on campus in the Weis Center on April 4th at 7:30 PM. This string quintet is internationally recognized, winning the Concert Arts Guild International Competition. Sybarite5 has a diverse repertoire ranging from classical standards such as Mozart to contemporary indie artists like Radiohead. The ensemble reached the Top 10 on Billboard’s Classical Crossover chart this year making their talent even more well known. Syabrite5’s unique style provides a show that is sure to entertain fans of a wide range of musical genres.
