Weekly Event Breakdown: Week of October 6, 2013

As we approach fall break, some of us begin to calm down and take things more slowly, while some are still in super-study mode until the end. Well, while the events for the week seem to follow the former trend, two musical upcoming performances are definitely ones to look forward to.

First, is a 2-Piano Alumni concert happening this Sunday, October 6, at 4 PM. It’ll take place in the Natalie Davis Rooke Recital Hall, which is found towards the rear entrance of the Sigfried Weis Music Building.  The performing Khasma Piano Duo is made up of Bucknell alumnae Ashlee Mack (2003) and Katherine Palumbo (2004). These ladies have been playing piano and singing together for several years since meeting in 2000 at Bucknell, and formally formed their duo

Storyin 2012. Both are fans of contemporary music and their concert will consist of music primarily from the 20th and 21st centuries, performed on the piano and vocally. Their program for this Sunday includes “Mihr” by Alan Hovhaness, “Three Preludes” by David Maki, “The Garden of Eden” by William Bolcom, “Tango” by Igor Stravinsky, “Time Seems to Pass” by James Romig, and “Halleluja Junction” by John Adams.  Is there any better way to spend a Sunday afternoon then enjoying some live piano and singing, as performed by fellow Bucknellians?..I don’t think so.

The second event for this week is the classic Late Night at 7th Street Café. As always, it is scheduled for Friday night at 10 PM, and takes place of course in 7th Street Café. While it’s dubious that many people will be there given Fall Break, it’s never a bad idea to just stop in for a snack and the sound of live, authentic music. 7thStreet performers are always a good time if you just want to relax and jam out – so why not drop in and enjoy, especially if you’re still on campus!

From the team here at Campus Vinyl BucknellU,  have a happy Fall Break, spend it listening to some good tunes and reward yourself for weeks of hard work (and play).
