The Jazz@Bucknelll series opens on Wednesday, September 17th with a performance by Dan Tepfer, an award-winning pianist. The French-American musician combines a traditional classical music background with jazz improvisation. His performance, “Dan Tepfer: Solo” will highlight his original style with Goldberg Variations/ Variations, Tepfer’s interpretation of J.S. Bach’s music. The event will begin at 7:30 PM in Bucknell Hall and is free and open to the public.

Dan Tepfer will complete his visit at Bucknell with another performance on Thursday, September 18th at 7:30 PM in Bucknell Hall. Tepfer will showcase his iPhone app with the collaboration of Bucknell professors including Emily Martin (soparano), Colleen Hartung (clarinet), Bill Kenny (horn), Barry Long (trumpet), and Lisa Caravan (cello) in a performance entitled “Dan Tepfer + wind and smartphones”. Tepfer has developed an app that records and sends notes played on his piano to iPhones on the music stands of other ensemble musicians. This technology maximizes the opportunity for innovative collaboration.
